Salmon River chills steelhead fishing
The current cold snap is chilling steelhead fishing in the Salmon area. This morning the river was 34 degrees. Overnight air temperature is predicted to reach O, so I expect to see ice in the river soon. This cold snap is supposed to last several days. After things warm up, we should get some more fishing time.
Fishing has been up and down this fall–some very good days, followed by poor days. The river temperature stayed unseasonably warm, until today. We should have gotten quite a few fish up into this area before falling temperatures slowed the migration–and I expect more fish than usual moved on upstream beyond Salmon.
