Steelhead fishing near Salmon–12 March 2014
The Salmon River near Salmon is beginning to clear. At mid-day today visibility above Salmon , above the Lemhi River, was 18 or 20 inches. Downstream below the Lemhi it was about a foot. Temperature was 39 degrees. Morning air temperature was low 20s, so melt slowed. One of my steelhead guides was out this afternoon fishing himself, hooked one steelhead. He saw a few other boats, but nobody seemed to have big stories yet. Hopefully the river will continue to clear.
