Steelhead Fishing in Salmon Id area 18 Jan 14

Warmer weather in the past week chewed away at the upper end of the ice jam. By mid-week the upper end of the ice jam was at the Red Bluff ramp. The Tower Creek ramp was ice-blocked, even though the river was open. Cooler mornings the last day or two has slush running down the river again. I heard of a few fish being caught in mid-week, saw a boat trailer or two parked at ramps. Even so, time might be better spent cleaning reels. Snowpack is light this winter, suggesting that there might be less muddy water in early spring when we start fishing seriously.
