6 November 2013 steelhead fishing in Salmon area
This morning the river was 34 degrees, 40 at the end of the day. I was surprised that the river warmed as much as it did, considering that there wasn’t much sun. The river is very clear. We did pretty well today relative to recent fishing–my boat had a couple of hits, a fish lost at the boat, and two landed. Stephanie outfished Dad, which happens right along; she landed three, had three others on. The cold water is a concern as far as the migration. I suspect that there are quite a few fish that will winter downriver, which means that they will come through in the spring. Maybe, if we get decent fishing conditions next spring, that we will do better than last spring–when most of the fish seemed to get here in the fall, and not many left for the spring.
